What is an energy saving BLDC fan?

A Brushless Direct Current motor fan is a type of an energy saving ceiling fan that consumes lesser power than regular induction motor ceiling fans. It helps save up to 60% power than induction motors ceiling fans while managing to deliver on higher performance. When you choose a BLDC ceiling fan, you choose the latest technology. Because it works on a brushless technology, the fan doesn’t create much friction and generates zero heat because of power transferring brushes. This gives it an increased lifespan. Moreover, there are fewer chances for the winding failure due to the use of high thickness copper wire in the winding and a controller circuit which constantly monitors all the aspects of the motor, right from the current drawn to the number of revolutions per minute. All this makes a BLDC fan an unbeatable option when you want the best performance, technology, and a power savings. When you choose your next fan, it is highly advisable to choose a BLDC ceiling fan.

Components of a power saving BLDC ceiling fan

There is a lot of engineering and innovation that has gone in making a BLDC fan powerful and efficient. The three main components that make up the low watt ceiling fan are – Stator, Rotor & Electronics. The permanent magnets in the BLDC fan work in combination with the electronics to give it the characteristic output of high performance, high savings. Permanent magnets used in rotor are responsible for mass reduction in power consumption compared to windings used in the stator of ordinary induction fans. The electronics contains the driving algorithm that drives the current in the BLDC motor. The position of the magnets is sensed by electronics, using back EMF or Hall effect sensor, to decide the power output. When all of this comes together inside the core of the motor, we experience comfort that elevates how air feels against the skin, without compromising on power savings.

Why choose an energy efficient BLDC technology fan?

The fan price of a BLDC fan, while marginally higher, is justified. While BLDC ceiling fans are the most energy efficient ceiling fans, the benefit simply doesn’t end there. A BLDC technology fan works on a different commutation than a regular DC fan. Commutation is basically the technique of changing the direction of the current in the motor for the rotational movement. In a BLDC motor, the power flows through a zero-contact technology. This results in lesser wear and tear of the motor’s components, giving it an advantage over a period of time. In addition, the use of an electronic circuit means that you can add several features to increase convenience. For example, a sleep and timer mode can be tuned with the BLDC ceiling fan, these fans can be made home automation ready, and most of them operate with a remote-control over a manual switch and regulator mechanism, thus decreasing the cost of buying a regulator.

still have doubts?

The main difference between a BLDC ceiling fan and an ordinary DC fan is the commutation method and the brushless technology. BLDC motors make for a great energy saving fan because they need lesser power to move the motor components as the current moves through frictionless zero contact motion. This even gives the fan a longer life.

A BLDC fan is majorly made of three components. Stator, Rotor, & Electronics. These three work in combination to deliver on the characteristic high power, high savings output of the BLDC fan. The permanent magnets used in the rotor are responsible for mass reduction in power while the electronics contains algorithm which drives the BLDC motor.

When you are looking for an energy saving fan, look no further than this. BLDC fans are low watt ceiling fans that help deliver peak performance with greater efficiency. Compared to regular induction fans, a BLDC fan can help you save up to ₹1,000 to ₹1,500 per year per fan. Moreover, this fan has a longer life and lower maintenance which means additional savings over a period of time.
